Winter, all weather, run flat and specialist tyres
We can provide specialist tyres, such as ‘run (on) flat’ designs, which allow your vehicle to continue driving for up to 50 miles, even when there is no pressure left in the tyre at all. Run flat tyre designs offer significant safety improvements over traditional tyres. Not only do they completely remove the possibility of high-speed blowouts, they allow you to keep driving in areas where it may otherwise be unsafe to stop, such as the motorway. Please note, run flat tyres should never be fitted to vehicles without a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) as this is the only way the driver will be aware they have suffered a puncture.
Alongside the range of tyres we can supply and fit, we also provide wheel balancing as standard with each new tyre fitted. Having your wheels balanced when replacing tyres is incredibly important as unbalanced wheels can cause uncomfortable vibrations whilst driving. This can lead to uneven tyre wear, as well as potentially cause damage to other parts of your vehicle, such as the steering and suspension.
We also offer a 4-wheel alignment service. Having correctly aligned wheels not only avoids uneven tyre wear, it can improve fuel economy, handling and ride comfort. Various things can affect the alignment of your wheels, such as potholes and speedbumps. Even bumping the kerb when parking could cause your wheels to be knocked out of alignment.
The minimum legal tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm. If you’re found to be driving a vehicle (even if it’s not yours) with tyres below this tread depth, you could be liable for a significant fine and 3 points for each illegal tyre.
Book a free visual inspection
If you are unsure if you need new tyres, feel free to book a visual inspection, using our online booking form. We’ll check your tread depth and the wear on your tyres and advise you if they need replacement. If your MOT due date is coming up, it might be worth getting your tyres checked out, to avoid having to re-test your vehicle. It’s always best to maintain your vehicle’s tyres so that you remain safe on the roads and regular checks can help with replacing one tyre at a time, rather than all at once which can be quite costly. Book online now for a visual inspection, or contact us today for any advice and guidance on your car tyres.
